OK, Sofa
The Charming Comfortable Statement Piece

image.png

As a self-imposed project, my goal was to experiment with furniture design and push my boundaries along the way. With the hope of refining my 3D modeling and hands-on building skills, I decided to make the project both sculptural and structural. I also aimed to create the entire piece using a majority of recycled materials.

Process Work

Initial BREP modeling. The key to success in this stage was to edit certain proportions of the hand so that there were no weak points in the final construction

Editing hand shape to make "OK" symbol. Editing dimensions to accommodate body proportions for comfortable seating

Four planar shapes were derived from the BREP model. These surfaces would be the basis for the wood structure that would hold the chair in it's intended form
