My first impression of my thoughts for this assignment surrounds the opportunities there are to make the book interactive, or at the very least visually engaging using more than just simple pages. There are things you could do to make pages transform in meaning when you put a color filter over the top, I want to explore ways I could mess with the viewer using that. I would like a way to put filter paper over a page but then get that filter out of the way so that another filter can go over the top to show another image, but that seems a bit too complicated to make a nice simple zine. There are also opportunities to make images disappear by using perpendicular polarized film, there may be cool ways to use that to give something meaning. I would appreciate some kind of big final reveal for the booklet at the end, maybe I could mess with the pages in a way for them to fold away so that pieces of the book become visible all at once. Implementing both Photoshop and Illustrator may be difficult, but if I choose a topic that can encapsulate both, maybe a narrative, I could implement one of these concepts and work it into the story. I also want to try using the CMYK printing style as a consistent style throughout the zine, but it may be difficult considering the other things I want to try out here. I will try a few of these out and see which ones are viable for the final zine.
